I'll be the first to admit it was a long while before I believed this myself. However, as I grew, I learnt the importance of consistency. Not just in how I took the photographs but also in my style and how my final product looked. As humans we're naturally programmed to trust brands we recognize. Therefore, alongside the imagery is a language the photographer speaks and a website which helps tie everything in their brand together. There are of course other things that come into play but first and fourth most you want to be able to trust, that what you see in a photographer's work/brand, is what you're going to get too.
Consistent client experience

An easy way to find out if the photographer has a good satisfaction rate
is to read reviews, not just on google but also on their website testimonials.
The reason for this is because it’s quite often clients will write amazing testimonials to the photographer, but never get around too writing a google review. So, it’s good to jump onto their website and see if you can find some. A photographer who has a consistent client experience satisfaction rate WILL have testimonials to communicate that to prospective clients.

Believe it or not there are some photographers out there who won’t have a website. While it’s valuable to say that photographers who are just starting out may not have launched theirs yet so it’s important to take that into consideration. However, it certainly makes it much easier for you as a client if they have one. Does their brand speak to you and what you’re looking for from your photographic experience? Is their website easy to navigate and are they easy to contact should you have any questions? If the photographer’s website has all of this, it’s a strong indication that they have put time and effort into their processes and your experience is likely going to be a lot smoother. Also important is to consider if their website is searchable. This again is an indication of the photographer’s professional processes and practices as a functioning business.

If you're looking at their work of others and you love the feel, vibe and creativity of the work, just wait until it’s you in their frame.
